NEW YORK—Clothing designer Tommy Hilfiger has partnered with the Keith Haring Foundation to create a line of footwear, which was unveiled in Paris on Feb.4. The line, Tommy Hilfiger x Keith Haring, features colorful patterns employing some of the late Pop artist’s signature motifs—barking dogs, hieroglyphic-like lettering and crowds of dancing human figures with arms thrust in the air—on sneakers for men, women and children, as well as rain boots for women. The shoes are priced in the range of E75/110 ($100/150), according to David Stark, president of New York–based brand-licensing and consulting firm Artestar, which represents the Haring Foundation, and a former creative director of the Keith Haring Estate. Artestar also represents the Estate of Jean-Michel Basquiat, which launched a line of sneakers with Reebok that incorporates imagery from the artist’s work (ANL, 10/6/09).
Hilfiger, who called Haring “an exceptional artist of his time,” presented the collection at Paris department store Colette, where it is available exclusively through Feb. 18. The line will be officially launched in department and specialty footwear stores in September.
