The Institute of Contemporary Art in London announced this morning that Donald A Moore, the chair of Morgan Stanley Group Europe, has been elected as chair of the ICA Council. Moore takes the place of outgoing ICA Council Chair Alison Myners, who has stepped down after six years of service.
Myners’s term marked a period of change for the ICA. Along with implementing a new governance structure, Myners most recently chaired the recruitment committee that hired Stefan Kalmár, the former executive director of New York’s Artist Space, to be its new director.
“I am looking forward to working with Donald, so that together we can make the ICA simply one of the most relevant and innovative contemporary arts organizations in the world today,” Kalmár said in a press release. “Historically our outspoken program is what has made us ‘the’ ICA, but that ‘the’ ICA still exists at all, is due to the dedication and leadership of Alison and Gregor [Muir]—for this we can’t thank them enough.”
Moore echoed Kalmár’s sentiment in a statement, saying how they will “take this important institution to the next level, ensuring its vital relevance as a leading voice within the culture of the 21st century.”
