COURTESY FONDATION D’ENTREPRISE GALERIES LAFAYETTE
For the third year in a row, the Fondation d’Entreprise Galeries Lafayette in Paris will host an Art+Feminisms Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon. This year’s edition will be hosted by artist Wu Tsang and will honor the work of queer theorist José Esteban Muñoz, suggesting a greater interest in queer feminisms than in past years.
The Art+Feminisms Edit-a-Thon encourages the public to create Wikipedia entries for women artists who are still underrepresented on the popular encyclopedia website. Since the first iteration, at New York’s Eyebeam art and technology center in 2014, successful Art+Feminisms Edit-a-Thons have been held at institutions including the Museum of Modern Art and Amsterdam’s Stedelijk Museum.
Some 600 people attended last year’s edit-a-thon at the Fondation d’Entreprise Galeries Lafayette, so the next, slated for March 4 and 5, might get crowded. Because the foundation’s future home has yet to open, the event will take place not at its forthcoming OMA-designed building but instead at the Archives Nationales.
