Julianne Moore, star of Boogie Nights, The Big Lebowski, the Hunger Games movies, and so many others, will be honored at this November’s MoMA Film Benefit, which is held each year to raise funds for the maintenance of its archive of over 30,000 motion pictures. Previous honorees include Quentin Tarantino, Tilda Swinton, and Tom Hanks (last year’s pick).
“Julianne Moore is a fearless champion of risk-taking cinema,” said Rajendra Roy, chief curator of film at MoMA. “There appears to be no challenge she isn’t willing to tackle when it comes to upending expectations of what a ‘leading lady’ can or should do. She continues to inspire legions of actors around the world, and it is our honor to celebrate her phenomenal contributions to the art of film.”
Moore has been nominated for five Academy Awards, and won the Best Actress Oscar for 2014’s Still Alice.
The benefit takes place November 13, and will be proceeded by a screening series of Moore’s work at the museum.
