The Liverpool Biennial has announced that Kitty Scott will co-curate the 2018 edition. Also announced was Julie Lomax’s appointment as director of development.
Since 2012, Scott has been the Art Gallery of Ontario’s Carol and Morton Rapp Curator of modern and contemporary art. Prior to that, she worked at the Banff Centre, the Serpentine Galleries, and the National Gallery of Canada. Over the past decade and a half, Scott has curated shows of work by Francis Alÿs, Paul Chan, Peter Doig, and Frances Stark, among many others. In addition to her work for the AGO, Scott is known for editing the book Raising Frankenstein: Curatorial Education and Its Discontents, and for lecturing about art and curating across North America.
Lomax comes from the Australia Council for Arts, where she is currently the director of visual arts. Previously, Lomax has also worked at the Arts Council England, the Whitechapel Gallery, the Serpentine Galleries, and Artangel. She’ll begin working at the Liverpool Biennial in March 2016.
