The New York Post reports that the latest documents in Ron Perelman’s lawsuit against Larry Gagosian allege THAT the dealer colluded with José Mugrabi to raise the price of a Cy Twombly painting that Perelman wanted to buy.
Perelman was reportedly told he could have the painting for $8 million, but then told it had already been sold. Gagosian then allegedly came back a few months later to say Perelman could have the work for $11.5 million. In the meantime, Perelman says, Mugrabi owned the painting.
The accusation shows a larger scope to the lawsuit, which previously had been a dispute over works by Jeff Koons.
