Lower East Side gallery Lisa Cooley has announced that it now represents Fiona Connor. Connor was the subject of a solo show at the gallery last summer. That exhibition included a replica of a concrete drinking fountain from Tompkins Square Park. Pictured here is a kind of industrial painting by Connor, constructed from bulletin board, brick, mortar, and a metal frame.
Connor was born in Aukland, New Zealand, and now lives and works in Los Angeles. She studied at CalArts and her work has been featured in the 2012 and 2014 editions of the Hammer Museum’s Made In L.A. survey, as well as in the 2013 Istanbul Biennial, among other exhibitions.
