Lisa Gold has been named the director of public engagement at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C. Gold previously was the executive director of Washington Project for the Arts, a positions she’s held since 2009. Before that she was PR director at the Drawing Center in New York and director of development and communications at the Socrates Sculpture Garden in Long Island City. At the Hirshhorn, Gold will oversee the museum’s public and education programs.
In a statement, Melissa Chiu, the Hirshhorn’s director, said: “Lisa Gold is a vital member of my new leadership team. She has helped some of our most highly esteemed arts organizations to position and present themselves so that they stand out in a crowded marketplace of ideas. An adept fundraiser, communicator and manager, she has worked effectively with major stakeholders at the local, national and international levels. She has cultivated the relationships necessary to expand our programming and connections with multiple audiences, both on-site and online.”
