The fine folks over at Instagram, the popular photo-sharing app, revealed today the locations, tags, and accounts that were most popular this year with its users. The big winner: the Louvre, which was the “most Instagrammed museum” in the world in 2017, beating out the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art, which took the number two and three spots.
In the United States, the top three slots were held by the Met, MoMA, and LACMA. In a development that can only be described as disturbing, the Museum of Ice Cream came in at number six in the United States, ahead of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C., and the National September 11 Memorial & Museum in New York.
And the top hashtags of 2017? Glad you asked. The top five were, in order, beginning with the most popular, #love, #fashion, #photooftheday, #photography, and then #art. The tag #beautiful came in at number six. The lists follow in full below.
