Pictures at an Exhibition presents images of one notable show every weekday.
Today’s show: “Mark Grotjahn: Fifteen Paintings” is on view at Blum & Poe, Los Angeles, until Saturday, June 20. The show features fifteen of Grotjahn’s non-representational paintings of “Face” paintings that depict “Indians” and “non-Indians.” Grotjahn achieves an explosion of color in these compositions through his labored technique of incising the layered canvas with a palette knife.
