The southern French city of Marseille will host the 13th edition of Manifesta, the traveling European contemporary art biennial, in 2020, the Art Newspaper reported today. The mayor of Marseille has approved funds totaling €627,000 (about $717,000) to pay for the right to hold the event, and Marseille will be contributing €2.4 million ($2.74 million) to the exhibition over the course of the next four years, which amounts to almost a third of the biennial’s budget.
