New York’s Park Avenue Armory announced today that Meiyin Wang has been named the first curator of its artist-in-residence program. Wang, who will continue as the co-director of the Public Theater’s Under the Radar Festival, is known for working with emerging artists to stage theater productions. Now, as the curator of the Armory’s artist-in-residence program, Wang will work with closely with Rebecca Robertson, the Armory’s president and executive producer, to stage performances in the “Under Construction” series.
The “Under Construction” series allows artists-in-residence to show and develop works-in-progress. The Armory also announced today that the 2015 series will begin on April 8 with a performance by drummer Ulysses Owens Jr. Other artists-in-residence this year will include theater company 600 Highwaymen, filmmaker Brent Green, costume designer Machine Dazzle, and comedian and musician Reggie Watts.

With the historical Regiment rooms as their studios, it is my hope that the artists will be fueled by the history, community and propulsive creative energy of this landmark building.”
