Artforum reports that Portland’s Disjecta Contemporary Art Center has named Michelle Grabner curator of the Portland 2016 Biennial of Contemporary Art, which will open July 9, 2016 and run through September 18 of the same year. The fair’s sixth edition will be headquartered in Disjecta’s exhibition space, with additional representation in locations throughout the city.
Grabner, an artist, curator, and chair of the department of painting and drawing at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago, holds an MA in art history with a BFA in painting from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, as well as an MFA in art theory and practice from Northwestern. Grabner was one of the curators of the 2014 Whitney Biennial, and served as senior critic at Yale’s department of painting and printmaking from 2012-2014.
