Yesterday, terrorists killed visitors at the National Bardo Museum in Tunis, taking others hostage after attacking the Parliament building nearby. Seven foreign tourists were killed, and French, Italian, British, and Spanish citizens were among the hostages. Two of the terrorists were killed by local police, and all hostages have been freed. Scott Tennent, director of executive communications at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, has written a plea to save Michael Heizer’s land art project, City. The project is unfortunately located in Nevada’s Basin and Range area, which Tennent hopes will get a Monument protection status and be saved from “being developed into a missile site, a location for oil and gas exploration, and a nuclear waste rail line.” Heizer has spent 43 years on this project; it will be the largest sculpture in the world once complete.
