COURTESY NEW MUSEUM
The New Museum in New York announced today that Isolde Brielmaier, Victoria Mikhelson, and Michael Xufu Huang have joined its board of trustees. The additions come as the museum plans its expansion into a neighboring building on the Bowery.
All three new board members have experience in the arts, though Brielmaier is the only one of the three known for her work in New York. Currently a professor of critical studies at New York University and the director of arts and culture at Westfield World Trade Center, she was recently named a curator-at-large at the Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery.
Mikhelson is a project manager at the V-A-C Foundation, the institution devoted to promoting Russian contemporary art started by her father and ARTnews Top 200 Collector Leonid Mikhelson. Huang is a collector and the cofounder of M Woods, the nonprofit contemporary art museum in Beijing. He is also a member of the New Museum International Leadership Council.
