The Philadelphia Museum of Art has announced the appointment of Nicole K. Allen White as director of government and external affairs, effective immediately. In her new position, Allen White will further the museum’s strong relationship with the city of Philadelphia and continue to set goals for public support.
Allen White comes from the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance, where she had served as director of policy and community since last year. “The Museum is most certainly the cultural heart of Philadelphia, and in my work at the Museum I know that I will be serving the citizens of our city in all that I do,” Allen White said in a statement. “This is deeply gratifying.”
Gail Harrity, the museum’s president and COO, said of Allen White, “Nicole is a strong advocate of arts and culture in Philadelphia and we are delighted that she will bring her considerable expertise to the Museum. At the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance, she led the successful campaign to restore funding for the Philadelphia Cultural Fund, and in that effort broadly supported the city’s arts and cultural organizations, working diligently to build awareness for the arts as engines of social, educational, and economic development in Philadelphia.”
