Today, PinchukArtCentre in Kiev announced the 21 artists shortlisted for its 2017 Future Generation Art Prize. The prize, established by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation in 2009, is given to emerging artists younger than 35. The winner of the prize, which comes with $100,000, will be announced in March.
Out of the 4,421 entries by artists from 138 countries, the shortlisted artists are:

The artists were chosen by an international selection committee comprised of Elise Atangana, an independent curator and producer based in Paris; Daniela Castro, an independent curator and writer based in São Paulo; Björn Geldhof, the artistic director of PinchukArtCentre and Yarat Contemporary Art Centre; Shabbir Hussain Mustafa, the senior curator of the National Gallery Singapore; Diana Nawi, an associate curator at the Pérez Art Museum Miami; Anna Smolak, the prize’s curator; and Gaia Tedone, an independent curator and PhD Candidate at London South Bank University’s Centre for the Study of the Networked Image.
An exhibition of the work of the 21 shortlisted artists will be presented at the PinchukArtCentre from February 25 to April 16. The exhibition will also be presented as an official collateral event at the Palazzo Contarini Polignac at the 2017 Venice Biennale, opening on May 11.
