For the first time in its 32-year history, New York’s Postmasters Gallery will expand to have a second space. In an email with a 25-second audio clip of the David Bowie song “Changes,” the gallery announced that it will open a space in Rome. The Italian branch will be overseen by Paulina Bebecka, who is currently a co-director of the New York gallery.
While the announcement did not include an opening date or details about the programming of Postmasters’s Rome space, it said that the Italian gallery would be used for hosting pop-up exhibitions, special projects, and art fairs.
The announcement also included news that Kerry Doran, the current director of New York’s Bitforms gallery, will be the new director of Postmasters’s TriBeCa space. Doran, who was on the staff of the New Museum’s technology-art incubator project New Inc, will start at Postmasters on April 11.
