COURTESY THE RUBIN MUSEUM
The Rubin Museum of Art has named Jorrit A. M. Britschgi director of exhibitions, collections, and research. Britschgi currently serves as head of exhibitions at the Museum Rietberg in Zurich. In his new position, which he will begin in early March, Britschgi will manage the Rubin Museum’s exhibitions program, lead the curatorial staff, execute strategies for exhibition development, improve audience engagement, and conduct collections-based research.
In a statement, Patrick Sears, the museum’s executive director, said,
“Jorrit’s leadership in the field and his creative approach to exhibitions will guide us as we move further into our second decade as an institution. As the Rubin Museum engages a growing number of local and global visitors and produces new research on its collections, Jorrit’s impressive record of both academic and cross-cultural exhibitions and his youthful and inquisitive style will both serve our mission and increase its impact.”
Britschgi received a Ph.D. in East Asian art history from the University of Zurich and has worked on archeological sites in Bhutan and China.
