The Dallas Museum of Art in Texas has promoted Tamara Wootton Forsyth to deputy director. Wootton Forsyth has been at the museum for 17 years and has most recently been its associate director collections, exhibitions, and facilities management. Her work there has included digitizing the museum’s collection, reinstalling its Arts of Africa gallery, overseeing the construction and renovation of its Eagle Family Plaza, and organizing exhibitions about Jackson Pollock, Jean Paul Gaultier, Henri Matisse, and Mexican art in the first half of the 20th century.
Agustín Arteaga, the director of the museum, said in a statement, “Tamara is an incredible asset to the DMA. During her many years at the Museum, she has actively participated, making significant contributions in shaping our institution. Tamara is passionately dedicated to our mission, and she is an inspiring leader whom I admire greatly, and who is deeply respected among our staff.”
In addition, the Dallas Museum has named Sarah Schleuning its Margot B. Perot Senior Curator of Decorative Arts and Design. She comes from the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, where she was a curator in its decorative arts and design department. Schleuning will begin at the museum on March 5.
