Pictures at an Exhibition presents images of one notable show every weekday.
Today’s show: “Tastemakers & Earthshakers: Notes from Los Angeles Youth Culture, 1943 – 2016” is on view at Vincent Price Art Museum in Monterey Park, California through Saturday, February 25. The group exhibition, which includes work by 35 artists, looks at eight decades of youth culture, specifically Chicano and Latino culture, in the L.A. area. The show takes the 1943 Zoot Suit Riots, in which white American servicemen attacked Mexican American youths who wore zoot suits, as its starting point.
