Nanne Dekking will take over as chairman of TEFAF (The European Fine Art Foundation), succeeding Willem van Roijen. The foundation hosts an annual art fair in Maastricht, Netherlands, and, as of early 2016, at the Park Avenue Armory in New York.
Dekking is the co-founder and CEO of Artory, which in New York and Berlin works to provide transparency in the art marketplace. He has also held various positions at Sotheby’s in New York, including Vice Chairman and the Worldwide Head of Private Sales.
“I have followed TEFAF’s development with keen interest for many years,” Dekking said in a statement. “The organization’s recent dramatic expansion and re-branding has been extremely ambitious and sets the stage for significant growth in its international reputation.”
Dekking called it “an honor” to succeed van Roijen and said the organization is “greatly indebted to him for his work.” He added: “I look forward to furthering the ambitions of TEFAF as a powerful art community.”
