It was announced today that the painter Tom LaDuke is now represented by Kohn Gallery, Los Angeles. LaDuke’s first exhibition for the gallery will open in March 2015.
LaDuke’s work juxtaposes representational imagery (referencing everything from the history of cinema to art history) with abstract painting techniques, the result being work that the Kohn Gallery calls “unsettling” in a press release.
Raised in Los Angeles (where he currently lives and works), LaDuke received his MFA from the Art Institute of Chicago. He has pieces in the permanent collections of the Guggenheim; MOCA, Los Angeles; the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo; the Portland Art Museum; the Speed Art Museum, Louisville, and others.
