Univision Communications Inc., the media company that owns the Spanish-language television channel Univision, has donated 57 works by American and Latin American artists to Florida International University’s Frost Art Museum in Miami. The works will be on view at the museum’s exhibition “Reflections of the Americas: New Acquisitions from the Collection of Univision,” which opens on September 23.
Included in the gift are prints by Wifredo Lam and Rafael Soriano, as well as paintings and mixed media works by Cundo Bermudez, Coqui Calderon, Humberto Calzada, Antonia Guzman, and Fernando De Szyszlo. The works were part of a larger collection that is typically shown in the hallways of Univision’s broadcast facilities in Miami.
In a statement, Jordana Pomeroy, the Frost Art Museum’s director, said, “This collection from Univision aligns naturally with our mission to inspire and propel Miami’s evolution as a cultural destination.”
