The VIA Art Fund has announced the recipients of $310,000 worth of grants for the first half of 2017. The Boston-based organization, whose name stands for Visionary Initiatives in Art, will support work by more than 50 artists, writers, and curators, as well as nine arts organizations with these grants.
Recipients of its Artistic Production Grants include:
- Dia Art Foundation for Charlotte Posenenske: A Retrospective, forthcoming in fall 2018
- Documenta 14 for Pope.L’s Whispering Campaign
- LAND (Los Angeles Nomadic Division) for a public outdoor installation by Jose Dávila as part of Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA
- Mountain Time Arts for Symphonic Body/Water Work by Ann Carlson
- Storm King Art Center for The Oracle of Lacuna by Heather Hart
- Walker Art Center for Daniel Buren’s Viole/Toile – Toile/Voile
In addition, its Incubator grants, which total $45,000 and are awarded to small to mid-size nonprofit organizations, have gone to Independent Curators International, Triple Canopy, and the New Orleans-based art-and-literature enterprise Antenna.
