Pictures at an Exhibition presents images of one notable show every weekday.
Today’s show: “Voyage” is on view at Galeria Bergamin & Gomide in São Paulo through Saturday, January 20. The group exhibition, curated by Alexandre da Cunha, includes work by Samara Scott, Thiago Barbalho, Lygia Clark, Marisa Merz, Laura Lima, Ed Flood, Jac Leirner, Rivane Neuenschwander, and José Damasceno, among others. Inspired by French comedic film Voyage Surprise (1947), directed by Pierre Prévert, the exhibition “explores the idea of traveling in a broader spectrum and its possible associations: dreams, expectations, idealizations, fantasies, escapes, frustrations, fear of the unknown,” according to an accompanying statement by da Cunha.
