This autumn, there is only one real way to truly celebrate the season, and that is by taking a selfie next to a patch of terrifying sculptures depicting the bust of the actor Christopher Walken. DNAInfo reports today that Socrates Sculpture Park in Long Island City is showing a series of concrete cast heads of the Astoria, Queens native created by the artist Bryan Zanisnik as part of Socrates’s Emerging Artist Fellowship Exhibition.
In addition to the field of Walkens (titled Monument to Walken), there is a comic by Eric Winkler housed inside a park display board that, according to a description, “chronicles the artist’s adventures in the park and discovery of Walken’s history in the neighborhood.” So head to Queens, grab a pumpkin spice latte, and get ready to be scared witless. Or, if you prefer, you can wait until until the snow descends on the Walkens. The piece is up until March.
