Fact Magazine reports today that the German photographer Wolfgang Tillmans has directed a video for the song “Freezer” by the British electronic-music maker Powell. The video is a collage of still and moving images set to Powell’s fractured, post-punk-influenced techno. It juxtaposes serene floral imagery with decidedly less serene footage of weaponized military guards. Ultimately, it induces mixed feelings.
Powell is slated to perform tomorrow night in the Turbine Hall at the Tate Modern in London, where Tillmans currently has a solo exhibition on view. Tillmans will also contribute visuals to Powell’s Turbine Hall gig.
