Kyle Bentley has been associate editor and reviews editor of Art in America since 2015. After graduating from Vassar College, where he studied English and art history, he began his career at Artforum magazine, holding a series of positions between 2003 and 2009 that included roles overseeing the United States portions of the exhibition reviews and museum previews sections, and assisting in the expansion of Artforum.com. From 2009 to 2015, he served as a freelance book editor for art institutions in the US and Europe, such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Museum der Moderne Salzburg. The numerous publications he edited for MoMA include Yoko Ono: One Woman Show, 1960–1971 (2015); Gauguin: Metamorphoses (2014), which won a prestigious PROSE Award; and From Postwar to Postmodern: Art in Japan 1945–1989 (2012), a landmark art-historical resource from the museum’s Primary Documents series. He also coedited Modern Women: Women Artists at the Museum of Modern Art (2010), which received an Outstanding Catalogue award from the Association of Art Museum Curators. He has reviewed exhibitions and covered art fairs and events in places around the world, from South America to Europe to the Middle East and Asia.
